Carol Wilson Update

Stage 4 Cancer brought many challenges--and also a host of loving and praying friends. Almost-daily postings to this site are to help my friends walk with me through this journey, and to express my gratitude to them and especially to God...On 7/8/08 Carol passed through that final curtain of death and is now healed. We thank God for her life and "arrival"! Chuck

Trusting God

I enjoyed a delightful weekend with friend Keith in Raleigh/Durham. He had been looking at an aquarium for tropical fish so we checked them out at the store, selecting one, setting it up, adjusting the water chemicals according to instructions and finally adding a few fish to “test it out”. Knowing that we were rushing the process, we selected some inexpensive fish, but so far they have adapted and seem content in their new surroundings. It was most helpful that Keith is well versed in water quality and knew exactly what chemicals were needed to make the water safe for the fish. It will be fun to watch the project develop over time.

Having finished reading the book of Genesis a few days ago, I have been thinking about the patriarchs listed there. I always enjoy reading about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but for some reason this time I seem to focus more on Joseph. What an amazing life of faith in God! After being sold into Egyptian slavery by his brothers at the age of 17, I love the statement he makes to them many years later when they are on the verge of starving; “God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. So it was God who sent me here, not you!” (45:7-8a) As Joseph looks back over the years, he can see God’s providence at work, both human and divine. Being human, I am sure that he must have wanted to ask “why” many times, but at the same time his faith never seemed to waiver in his God in spite of the ups and downs of his life. That is a good reminder for me!

This was my early morning at the office to pick up donated bread for our kitchens so I am hoping to get a little extra sleep tonight. I trust that your week is going well. I am always thrilled to hear from you and get caught up with your lives.

Love to all,

Chuck
