Trusting

I awoke early thinking about so many friends going through difficult times, lifting them up in prayer as they came to mind. First on my mind was Carol’s cancer buddy, John. He did not get a favorable report from the oncologist this week. The cancer continues to be growing, he has pretty much lost his voice again, has little appetite and is in considerable pain from the crack in his pelvis caused by the cancer. He will be starting on a new chemo program. This is an extremely difficult time for him and Mary Ella. Do join me in praying for them.

Several friends have passed through that veil since Carol’s passing, and their spouses are facing the same adjustments that I am. Judy, Julie, Annie, Ivan, Linda and Joyce are all in my prayers as they adjust to life alone. After so many years as couples, returning to a single life is quite an adjustment.

Psalm 37 comes to mind. Here are some verses that are speaking to me at the moment:

“Don’t worry…Trust in the Lord and do good…Take delight in the LORD…Commit everything you do to the LORD, Trust him, and he will help you…Be still in the presence of the LORD…Stop your anger…Do not envy others.” Verses 23-24 especially spoke to me; “The steps of the godly are directed by the LORD. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will not fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.”

Lord take each one of your children that are going through difficult times by the hand. Keep each of us growing in our trust in you, and from stumbling as we continue on to that joyous day when we meet you on the other side.
