Carol Wilson Update

Stage 4 Cancer brought many challenges--and also a host of loving and praying friends. Almost-daily postings to this site are to help my friends walk with me through this journey, and to express my gratitude to them and especially to God...On 7/8/08 Carol passed through that final curtain of death and is now healed. We thank God for her life and "arrival"! Chuck

Giving up

I just read a quote by Malcolm Muggridge “One of the pleasures of old age, is giving things up.”  In my younger years I would have had a difficult time believing that, but I have experienced it…it is true!  When the children left home we downsized from our large colonial home to a ranch, and upon moving to Charlotte downsized again.  In Sebring I have again downsized and it is a real pleasure.  Don’t worry, I still have more that I really need, but it is a delightful experience and I feel extremely blessed to be part of the SIM Village!

Last weekend was spent with Justin, Laura, Ella and one-week-old Sophia in Sumter, SC.  She is a real doll, and unlike new born Ella, she sleeps through the night and rarely cries.   We had a bit of a scare one evening when Justin and I took a bike ride in the neighborhood with Ella riding in the little trailer.  As Justin turned, apparently Ella leaned with the turn and caused the trailer to upset and dump her onto the street where she got a small cut on her forehead and a couple other small “bumps”.   The cut generated a lot of bleeding, making the upset appear more serious that it really was.  A neighbor drove them home and then came back for me and the bikes.  Fortunately there was no serious damage to Ella or the equipment!  From there I drove up to Charlotte and picked up a few things I had left, spending time with several people at the office.

I am still opening miscellaneous boxes…those with a vast number of unrelated items, most of which should likely be discarded.  So far I have not found my camera attachments to recharge the battery and connect with the computer so that I can transmit pictures.  One of these days I will surprise you with a photo or two when I find it.

Your emails and calls have been a tremendous encouragement.  Hopefully I will be able to be organized to promptly respond shortly.  The internet connection still has not been established at my house so I am having to transmit this from the Fellowship Hall or Lodge where we have Wi-Fi available.

Love to you all,

Chuck
